The YOU ARE UNIQUE sexual abstinence school program was coordinated and presented to all but one of the Middle Schools in Santa Rosa County this school year. (2003)

Our program was presented by Jean Batte' - Volunteer Sexual Abstinence Program Coordinator, and nine other trained volunteers.

The program was funded by the Healthy Start Coalition and supplemented and managed by the Pregnancy Resource Center. our team of volunteers taught 241 class hours to approximately 1800 students in Santa Rosa County and 1000 students in Escambia County.

The Program volunteers did three parent presentations, one in Santa Rosa and two in Escambia County. The Program was also presented to a group at UWF and several churches. Two of the volunteers do the presentation every six weeks for Teen Court.

Our GOAL is to challenge and empower our students by educating them with true facts so they can be better prepared to make wise, healthy choices for themselves and their future. They won't have to say "no one told me" or "I did not know." Sex comes with a price tag. They have to have the truth to determine what the cost is and to decide whether the risk is worth it. This program helps them to see the complete picture of the cost today.

OUR CURRENT PROGRAM VOLUNTEER PRESENTERS ARE:

Robin Klempa, Robbi Ropella, John Lowe, Clain Roberts, Molly Haven, Ryan Clark, Luci Bailly, Pam Williams, Crystal Martinez, Amy Lord, Teri Matthews, Dr. Jon Fountain and Jean Batte'.

Future plans are to conduct two "YOU ARE UNIQUE" training sessions for the upcoming school year, one in August and one in September. If you or someone you know would be interested in volunteering to be presenters and/or coordinators in this great ministry, please contact the Center at 983-2730.

With more trained presenters we can branch out to high schools and other community areas. Please note that this is not a full time job or even a part time job. We work with a person's individual schedule. Please consider joining us in this important life changing and LIFE SAVING ministry!
