Pastor Gallups, "Is having an abortion really wrong and if it is, can a person be forgiven by God for having an abortion?" M.B., Pace

Dear M.B., The whole of God's word, makes clear the sanctity of human life in the eyes of God. We are created in His very image. Read Psalm 139. It makes clear that God Himself puts us together in our mother's womb. He calls us by name before we are conceived! He numbers and ordains our days BEFORE one of them comes into existence! This passage makes it abundantly clear that life BEGINS at the moment of conception.

The hypocrisy of the pro-abortion movement is absolutely comical if one pays close attention. They say, "oh honey, go ahead with this abortion, after all, it is just a FETUS!" Yet, the word FETUS is a Latin word, meaning, LITTLE ONE. A few months ago, I heard a pro-abortion advocate on national T.V, on a self-righteous tirade against women who smoke and drink during pregnancy! She was condemning them for harming their baby before it was born, yet she is in total support of a doctor reaching into a mother's womb and ripping out and killing a child and throwing it in a trash can! The hypocrisy is astounding!

You ask, " Is abortion wrong?" My answer is simple, "the killing of a child is ALWAYS wrong!" But what about in case of incest or rape, etc? My answer is the same, "the killing of a child is ALWAYS wrong!" The answer really is that simple. Now, living out those answers is not always so simple. Life is tough. Big and life changing decisions are always tough. But, if you will always do what is Biblically right, the Lord will ALWAYS honor you for that.

Which leads me to the answer to your other question. Yes, the Lord will, can and does forgive those who have had abortions or been involved in the abortion lie in any way. The person must repent and turn from their sin, confess their sin before the Lord and ask for the forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Abortion is not the unforgivable sin. It is a sin with deep and lasting consequences, however.
