HOW SHOULD I DRESS AT HHBC?
You may dress up or you may dress casually. We simply ask that people do not dress "suggestively", such as the wearing of shorts, low cut dresses, etc. Our folks come from all walks of life. We have people who wear suits, coats and ties and dresses. We also have folks who wear jeans and t-shirts or casual slacks and dress pull-overs. Everyone gets along great and we do not judge or treat people differently based upon what they wear to church. WE ARE JUST HONORED TO HAVE YOU WORSHIP WITH US!
WHAT KIND OF WORSHIP SERVICES DO YOU HAVE?
The key word is BALANCE and DOCTRINALLY SOUND! We have a pleasing balance of the traditional hymns as well as the more contemporary praise and worship music. Our services are lively and celebrative without being a "cheerleading session". We use the traditional instruments of the organ and piano, yet we also have trumpets, flutes, drums, keyboard, guitars and bass guitar. Everything is done decently, worshipfully and excellently. The preaching is passionate, informative, convicting, Jesus centered and encouraging. Bring your Bible and something to take notes with! You will leave GLAD that you were in the Lord's House!
WHAT WORSHIP "ACTIONS" ARE ALLOWED?
Our worship services are excellently and worshipfully conducted by our Pastors, Bro. Carl, Bro. Greg and Bro. Jack, and Worship Leader - Minister of Music, Bro. Jim Rinehart. At the appropriate times, you may feel free to clap your hands, say "amen" or raise your hands in praise to the Lord Jesus. You will not be compelled to express your worship in any particular way. We do not badger or manipulate people. We are there to exalt Jesus Christ and Him alone. We do not allow the modern day rendition of ecstatic "speaking in tongues" in our worship services or in ANY of our church programs and ministries. Please click on the

WILL I BE SINGLED OUT OR RECOGNIZED IN ANY WAY?
We do have a time of formally welcoming our guests. You are very special to us. HOWEVER, we DO NOT single you out or embarrass you in ANY WAY. While the congregation is standing and worshipping together in song, our Pastor will welcome our guests warmly. On the video overhead screen is special information for the guests. Our guests are encouraged to fill out a visitors card so that we may send you more information about the church. You will NOT BE VISITED without your request or approval. You WILL NOT BE continually called and bothered - your privacy will not be invaded. If you would like a visit in your home or with a Pastor at the church you may indicate that and one will be provided for you. Come, relax, enjoy and WORSHIP JESUS WITH US!
WILL I BE VISITED OR CALLED UPON AFTER WORSHIPPING AT HHBC?
You will receive several letters and cards thanking you for worshipping with us and encouraging you to worship again at HHBC. You will not be visited unannounced. You may be called and asked if you would like a visit at which point an appointment convenient to you would be made. Of course, you may request a visit any time that you wish for one.
HOW MAY I JOIN HICKORY HAMMOCK BAPTIST CHURCH?
1. You may join by "STATEMENT" - That is you may join by verbally affirming that you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ and that you have followed Him in New Testament Believer's Baptism by immersion. In this case, no "Letter of Membership" from a previous church is required.
2. You may join by "LETTER" - That is you may join by requesting that your letter of membership from another Southern Baptist Church or denomination of similar statement of doctrine and practice, be transferred to our membership role. Of course, you must still be able to affirm that you have been born again and that you have followed Jesus Christ in New Testament Believer's Baptism by immersion.
3. You may join by "PROFESSION OF FAITH" - that is you may join by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, testifying that you are born-again and requesting that we baptize you in New Testament, Believer's Baptism.
IMPORTANT NOTE - In ALL of the above cases, before you would actually be placed on the official church roll and able to serve in places of ministry and vote on official church business, you would need to attend our New Members Class. This class is taught every Sunday Morning in the Choir Suite. There are 6 classes to the series. Our by-laws require ALL people requesting membership at HHBC to attend these classes. We believe that you will find them to be extremely enjoyable and informative.
HOW DO I "FOLLOW THROUGH" ON THESE DECISIONS? - during any regular Sunday Morning Worship service, at the invitation time, very clear instructions are given by our Pastor as to how to follow through with any decision of membership or faith. Invitation Counselors are located down front and off to the sides, so that you may discreetly go to them during the invitation time. There, they will privately minister to your needs, answer any questions that you may have and help you to get started. You WILL NOT be brought before the church that morning or singled out in any way. Our purpose is not to embarrass anyone. We go to great lengths to ensure this.
Of Course, you may always request a Pastoral visit or counseling appointment at anytime during your decision process.
WHAT KIND OF COUNSELING IS AVAILABLE TO ME?
We offer a full range of Biblical, Pastoral Counseling Ministries. You may call the Church Office to make an appointment at 850-623-8959. We can refer you to local, professional Christian Counseling should that be needed or desired.
